Cashew Shell Oil
Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) is an industrial raw material. The shells contain
high quality oil known as CNSL, which has got wide industrial uses. A pure and natural
product, with no artificial element added. CNSL is a secondary product of cashew
processing industry. The nut has a shell of about 1/8 inch thickness inside which
is a soft honeycomb structure containing a dark reddish brown viscous liquid. In
tropical medicine CNSL plays a very important role as it is being used to treat
leprosy, elephantiasis, psoriasis, ring worm, warts and corns. It is known as CNSL
which is present in the pericarp of the cashew nut. This raw material is used for
a number of polymer based industries like paints and varnishes, resins, industrial
and decorative laminates, break lining and rubber compounding resins.
